So for making some cold brew coffee, which I sometimes use for coffee lemonade later, I currently have the following recipe.
Cold brew coffee
- Grind 5 g per dl water of fruity and sweet coffee beans (this summer I have used da Matteo's Kenya Gitchathaini AA lot 008). Some of the volume will get lost so calculate for a little more than you need (10% extra or so).
- Pour the ground coffee beans in a plastic bowl (or something else that doesn't give taste to the coffee).
- Pour the water over the coffee. The water should be around 30 degrees Celsius, what feels comfortable for a finger held in the running tap water.
- Set at timer for 2 hours. Two to three hours worked well when I tested different times. Longer or shorter didn't give the result I wanted (Cold brew coffee) but it, of course, depends on the beans and taste of the brewer. Do some experimenting on your own.
- Stir slightly once or twice during the time.
- Filter the coffee through a regular coffee filter. If you're brewing more than half a litre you probably gonna need to switch filters.
- If you wanna be careful you filter it once more. It makes it better for storing in the refrigerator (less particles, less after-brewing).
- Fill bottles and put in refrigerator, can be stored at least a day and a night.
Coffee Lemonade
- Take a slice of lemon or two of lime depending on taste and squeeze juice and drop it/them in a glass for about a dl or a little more.
- Optional: Take half a teaspoon of muscovado sugar and drop in the glass.
- Pour a decilitre of chilled cold brew coffee over the slice(s) and stir.
Storage
Coffee and sliced lime or lemon can be stored in refrigerator (put a little plastic or a lid over the fruit) and cold brew coffee black, with sugar, with lime/lemon or both sugar and lime/lemon can easily be stirred together when wanted.
